The book Future Homes, published by RIBA and written by Ellie Stathaki, presents Casa Eva and Casa Productiva by Fernanda Canales, two proposals that explore progressive and adaptable housing models.
Designed after the 2017 earthquake, Casa Eva is a 50 m² prototype capable of expanding from one to three bedrooms within a compact 4 × 8 meter double-height volume, prioritizing natural light, cross ventilation, and construction efficiency through the use of local materials.
Meanwhile, Casa Productiva proposes a 30 m² modular dwelling that can expand through the incorporation of new volumes articulated by courtyards, allowing for progressive growth, programmatic flexibility, and adaptation to different contexts and construction systems.
