In Abitare 655, PILARES Iztapalapa by Fernanda Canales is highlighted as part of a new generation of public and community spaces transforming Mexico City. Conceived within the PILARES program, the project provides a safe environment for educational, cultural, and recreational activities, responding to conditions of social vulnerability in the area. Defined by a sequence of circular concrete volumes and open courtyards, the architecture creates accessible spaces that encourage learning, social interaction, and a sense of belonging, while sensitively reinterpreting the constructive language of the surrounding urban context.
