In Arquitectura Viva, the PILARES Iztapalapa Center by Fernanda Canales is presented as a community infrastructure designed to provide spaces for learning, gathering, and protection in one of Mexico City’s most vulnerable areas. The publication highlights how the project organizes courtyards, gardens, and open circulation paths to visually detach itself from the immediate surroundings of Reclusorio Oriente, fostering an atmosphere of social interaction, education, and the dignification of public space.
